An old neighbor from Kauai used to describe that state of “just getting by” as cruisin’. Of course he used it in a host of contexts so the exact definition depended on exactly when and what might be cruisin’ along at that particular moment. Whatever the situation there was something easy about the way it sounded. 14 hour day at work? “Just cruisin’ man.” Bills that are either not going to get paid or have already gone delinquent? “Cruisin’ brother.” No surf, slammed by life’s weird turns like anemia in your daughter, 14 hour days at work, bills still due, two more jobs still need addressed, the longboard still in the racks in the garage waiting on the resin to dry, a longboard within 2 ft but separated by a locked door whose key is on the other side of town? Cruisin’ man. Cruisin’.
Check out Drake Courie, Jeremy Robinson and Bradley Rose as they spend a little time just cruisin’.
